Overview

As Software Team Leader, you drive the development of Leonardo’s operational, scalable CUAS capability within the Integrated Sensors & Protection line. You lead a team of software professionals, balancing hands-on coding with leadership to deliver high-assurance solutions. You collaborate with cross-functional partners and apply formal engineering processes to meet safety-critical requirements. You will shape the approach to state-of-the-art software development in a fast-evolving defence domain. This role offers the chance to influence mission-critical technology at scale.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and contribute to hands-on software development for the CUAS capability
  • Provide team leadership, mentoring, and clear communication within cross-functional teams
  • Apply Agile practices and formal problem-solving methods to deliver complex projects
  • Govern development through formal requirements and engineering processes
  • Ensure safety-critical software development principles are followed and delivery is achieved
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements and align on project goals
  • Manage delivery with a focus on quality, schedule, and risk in a high-stakes environment
Key requirements
  • Team leadership with hands-on software development experience
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Interpersonal skills and effective collaboration
  • Working knowledge of Agile methodologies
  • Familiarity with formal problem solving methods
  • Ability to work with formal requirements and engineering processes
  • Proven delivery capability in complex activity
  • Appreciation of safety-critical software development
  • Security clearance: BPSS; NSV possible (SC or DV)
