Software Team Leader

In this role you will lead software engineering teams delivering safety-critical defence systems, owning end-to-end software packages and aligning delivery with programme objectives. You will balance scope, schedule and cost while growing capable teams and maintaining clear progress oversight. You’ll collaborate with systems, project and discipline leads to ensure delivery supports the organisation’s mission and safety requirements. • Provide technical and people leadership for software teams delivering safety-critical systems
• Own end-to-end planning and delivery of software work packages, including scope, schedule, budget, risks and technical dependencies; manage trade-offs to meet programme objectives
• Build and evolve software teams with the right blend of skills to meet current delivery needs and future programme demands
• Maintain delivery oversight, including progress tracking and financial assurance for accurate reporting
• Collaborate with systems, project and discipline leads to align technical delivery with programme objectives

• Degree (or equivalent experience) in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace, Physics or Mathematics
• Proven experience leading and developing software engineering teams delivering complex or safety-critical systems
• Ability to plan, assign and deliver work packages balancing technical quality, schedule and cost
• Practical experience across multiple stages of the software lifecycle (requirements, design, implementation, integration, verification)
• Working knowledge of DOORS, Siemens Polarion, CAMEO; programming in C/C++ and/or Assembler; scripting in Python
