Overview

In this role you will own the architecture and translate the technology vision into an actionable plan for delivery by a ~20-strong PMO and web/back-office team. You will shape the technical direction across order management, ecommerce, and integrations, balancing speed, cost and risk. You’ll work closely with senior leadership to align roadmaps with commercial priorities and drive ongoing governance. Responsibilities
  • Plan and modernise the Khaos order management system without disrupting daily trading
  • Support and evolve the Adobe Commerce ecommerce platform for better customer experience and agility
  • Design scalable integration patterns across cloud and on-premises systems, including APIs, events, batch jobs and middleware with monitoring and recovery
  • Introduce design governance with practical reviews, standards, and decision records
  • Translate technology strategy into phased roadmaps tied to commercial priorities
  • Review solution proposals from internal teams and suppliers and provide clear recommendations balancing build, buy, and hybrid options
  • Support the PMO with feasibility, sizing, risk assessment and sequencing for new work
  • Clarify data ownership for pet, prescription, customer, product, order and stock data with the Data Lead
Key requirements
  • Solutions architecture experience in ecommerce, preferably in retail or logistics
  • Experience with Adobe Commerce, Magento, SAP Hybris or similar ecommerce platform
  • Strong integration and middleware experience and understanding of data sharing and failure scenarios
  • Experience with ERP or order management systems and modernising legacy platforms incrementally
  • Commercial sense to balance cost, speed and risk and set priorities
  • Ability to explain technical choices to non-technical stakeholders
  • Desirable: TOGAF or similar architecture certification
  • Commitment to company purpose and values
  • Hands-on with engineers and suppliers
  • Assertive in defending technical stance with leadership
  • Clear communicator to non-technical stakeholders
  • Ecommerce architecture (retail/logistics)
