Overview

As a Solutions Architect I at Amazon, you design and deliver AWS-based cloud solutions for public sector customers in the UK and Germany, aligning technical designs with business goals. You work with account teams to translate mandates into actionable architectures and enablement assets, while mentoring peers and accelerating cloud adoption. This role combines hands-on architecture, customer engagement, and cross-team collaboration to deliver impactful outcomes. You will be pivotal in shaping first workloads on AWS and guiding procurement-aligned decisions.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as technical single point of contact for new-to-cloud public sector customers in the UK, guiding them from first workload to production
  • Conduct technical discovery sessions in English to identify pain points and propose AWS solutions
  • Collaborate with Account Executives on territory planning and customer engagement across UK-PS and Germany-PS
  • Design foundational cloud architectures aligned with business outcomes and public sector requirements
  • Develop repeatable plays and enablement assets for common scenarios (cost optimization, compliance, legacy migration)
  • Champion AWS technology through workshops, PoC engagements, and technical content in English and German
  • Navigate German public sector procurement and UK compliance frameworks
  • Contribute to growth of the Greenfield SA organization via mentorship and best practices
  • Lead technical discovery calls, whiteboard architectures, and build PoC demos to support migration roadmaps
  • Coordinate with AWS service teams, partner SIs, and security specialists to assemble optimal solutions
  • Maintain technical win plans and contribute to pipeline reviews with data-driven assessments
  • Stay current on AWS services to match capabilities with customer problems
Key requirements
  • 1+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures
  • 2+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in software or Internet industries
  • Experience with public sector organizations (government, education, healthcare, nonprofit) (preferred)
  • Experience with AWS technologies from development or operations perspective (preferred)
  • Understanding of UK public sector procurement and compliance frameworks (e.g., G-Cloud, Cyber Essentials) (preferred)
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (CloudFormation, Terraform, CDK) (preferred)
  • Curiosity and problem solving
  • Strong communication with technical and executive audiences
  • Collaborative mindset and cross-team teamwork
  • AWS technologies (development/operations perspective)
