SP Senior System Integration and Test Engineer

Overview

You will lead integration and testing for complex in-house and third-party components, ensuring system-level performance within schedule and cost constraints. You will work with a multi-disciplinary team to plan, execute, and document test activities, and to verify that subsystems integrate into a cohesive solution. The role involves on-site delivery at Ampthill, UK, with opportunities to influence qualification and verification trials in the defence sector. You will communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders, supporting formal product sell-off and acceptance. This is a hands-on, collaborative role at pace with cross-site collaboration.

Responsibilities
  • Design and execute comprehensive test plans, cases, and reports
  • Coordinate test campaigns to meet specifications and timelines
  • Validate test data for accuracy and completeness
  • Author and sign off test documentation and provide status updates
  • Manage test facilities and liaise with contracted sites
  • Develop and integrate automated test scripts within the tool ecosystem
  • Integrate large-scale solutions within a system-of-systems context
  • Collaborate with a large multi-disciplinary engineering team and participate in verification trials
  • Ensure safety and data/equipment security during testing
  • Support field deployments and travel to trial sites as required
Key requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Proven experience creating test plans, cases, and reports for system integration/verification
  • Hands-on experience in qualification/verification trials, preferably in defence-related systems
  • Experience developing strategies to support formal product sell-off and acceptance
  • Familiarity with instrumentation (thermocouples, strain gauges, accelerometers) and data acquisition tools
  • Ability to investigate and report faults in complex systems
