Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide speech-language therapy services under the supervision of an SLP, tailored to students’ ages and individual needs.
  • Support students with a variety of communication disorders and complex communication needs.
  • Implement treatment plans established by the supervising SLP.
  • Collect data, document progress toward therapy goals, and share updates with the supervising SLP.
  • Assist with documentation, clerical tasks, and maintenance of student records.
  • Prepare therapy materials, including core boards, choice boards, communication books, visual icons, and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices.
  • Adapt materials and equipment to meet students’ needs.
  • Communicate respectfully with students, families, caregivers, and staff from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • An associate degree in speech-language pathology assisting or communication disorders, or graduation from a speech-language pathology assistant program.
  • A valid California SLPA license, or eligibility to obtain one before providing services.
  • DOJ/FBI Live Scan background clearance and TB clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous SLPA experience in an educational or clinical setting.
  • Experience supporting students with learning or social-emotional challenges.
  • Pro-ACT, CPI, and/or CPR certification.
