Overview

In this role you will develop and optimize SQL-based solutions within a fintech-focused data environment, supporting an emerging client and a CTO-led team. You will drive SQL development and database aspects, including migrations, performance tuning, and data modeling, to enable reliable reporting and data access. The position blends development with DBA tasks, offering exposure to cloud and on-premises SQL Server environments at scale. This is a fast-paced, technically rigorous opportunity with growth through Microsoft certifications.

Responsibilities
  • 70% development of SQL solutions and stored procedures; optimization and robust error handling
  • Migration planning and execution (e.g., to SQL Server 2016)
  • Design and manage data import/export processes using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
  • Provide guidance on database design and performance tuning
  • Design data models for efficient access, reporting, and validation
  • Monitor and tune query performance across multiple SQL Server instances
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to support BI reporting
  • Administer multiple SQL Server instances on Windows/Cloud
  • Perform regular database consistency checks, diagnose problems, and implement repairs
  • Develop and maintain error notification alerts
  • Contribute to overall business process improvements
  • Work closely with CTO and developers
Key requirements
  • 3–5 years of hands-on SQL Server development and DBA experience
  • Expert SQL Server programming (T-SQL, stored procedures)
  • Expert SQL Server Reporting Services and Integration Services knowledge
  • Experience administering SQL Server (ideally SQL 2014/2016)
  • Strong relational data modelling and database development methodologies
  • Experience with data warehouses and decision support databases
  • Familiarity with ADO.NET and the .NET framework
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving track record
  • Experience in highly transactional environments
  • Knowledge of Power BI reporting is a plus
  • Knowledge of PostgreSQL 9.x is a plus
