Senior Business Analyst – ServiceNow / ITAM / Data Governance

Position Overview

Our client is seeking a Senior Business Analyst to join an enterprise technology group supporting multiple areas across Technology & Operations (T&O) . The technology group is currently undertaking an enterprise-wide implementation of the ServiceNow Common Service Data Model (CSDM) , with a particular focus on IT Asset Management (ITAM), CMDB, and establishing consistent enterprise service and asset data .

The successful candidate will bring strong experience working within financial services, enterprise technology, ServiceNow, ITAM/CMDB, and data governance environments. This individual will work across business, technology, architecture, data governance, and service-management teams to define requirements, improve data quality, establish governance, and support the adoption of CSDM across the organization.

The organization is also transitioning its enterprise data-catalog capabilities from Informatica to Alation . Experience with enterprise data catalog and metadata-management platforms such as Informatica, Alation, Collibra, or Microsoft Purview would be highly valuable.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the enterprise implementation and adoption of ServiceNow CSDM , with a primary focus on IT Asset Management (ITAM), CMDB, and service data .
• Work with stakeholders across T&O to understand current-state processes, systems, applications, technology assets, services, and data relationships.
• Gather, analyze, document, and validate business, functional, and data requirements related to ServiceNow ITAM, CMDB, and CSDM .
• Support the definition and documentation of relationships between:
• Business services
• Applications
• Configuration items (CIs)
• IT assets
• Infrastructure
• Business capabilities
• Supporting technology components
• Analyze current-state CMDB and asset information and identify gaps, inconsistencies, duplication, and data-quality issues.
• Help define future-state processes, data structures, ownership models, and governance practices aligned with CSDM.
• Work with data governance teams to establish and maintain:
• Data definitions and business terminology
• Data ownership and stewardship
• Data-quality requirements
• Data lineage and relationships
• Metadata requirements
• Data standards and controls

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience as a Business Analyst , preferably within a large enterprise or financial services organization.
• Strong experience working within financial services , banking, insurance, wealth management, or another complex regulated environment.
• Demonstrated experience supporting ServiceNow , particularly IT Asset Management (ITAM), CMDB (configuration management database), and/or CSDM (common service data model) initiatives.
• Experience with data governance - tools (informatica, collibra, purview, alation)
• Strong experience gathering, analyzing, documenting, and validating complex business and technology requirements.
• Experience with data analysis, data mapping, data relationships, and data-quality analysis .
• Strong stakeholder-management and workshop-facilitation skills.

Experience with enterprise data catalog, metadata management, or data governance platforms is highly desirable.

• Other enterprise data catalog or metadata-management platforms

Experience supporting a data catalog migration or implementation , particularly a transition from Informatica to Alation , would be an asset.

The candidate should understand concepts such as metadata, data ownership, stewardship, data lineage, business glossary, data classification, data quality, and data discovery .

ServiceNow / ITAM Experience

ServiceNow experience is a key requirement for this position.

The primary focus will be on IT Asset Management (ITAM) and the relationship between IT assets, CMDB, and the Common Service Data Model (CSDM) .

Candidates should ideally have experience with:

• ServiceNow ITAM
• ServiceNow CMDB
• CSDM
• Data quality within CMDB
• CSDM data structures and governance

Direct ServiceNow CSDM implementation or adoption experience is highly preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with ServiceNow ITAM, CMDB, and CSDM implementations .
• Experience with ServiceNow modules such as ITSM, ITOM, APM, or Service Portfolio Management .
• Experience with Informatica, Alation, Collibra, Microsoft Purview , or similar data catalog platforms.
• Experience supporting a migration between enterprise data catalog platforms.
• Knowledge of enterprise data governance frameworks and practices.
