Overview

In this role you will design and operate scalable data platforms to enable data-driven decision making. You’ll partner with product, analytics, and engineering teams to deliver reliable data pipelines and datasets for analytics and ML use cases. You’ll optimize OLTP databases for performance and reliability while building end-to-end data architectures that support enterprise reporting and advanced analytics. You will implement production-ready processes for monitoring, backups, and incident response, shaping resilient data infrastructure at scale.

Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain high-performance OLTP systems with a focus on reliability and scalability
  • Audit and optimize databases, improve data quality, and refactor legacy pipelines
  • Design schema, indexing, and query performance strategies to ensure production readiness
  • Build and maintain scalable data architectures including batch and streaming pipelines and ELT with dbt and Snowflake
  • Develop performance testing and release validation frameworks to prevent regressions and ensure data integrity
  • Establish production processes: monitoring, alerting, backup/recovery, access controls, and incident response
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align data infrastructure with analytics and ML use cases
  • Define and uphold production data reliability practices, SLAs/SLOs, and observability practices
Key requirements
  • Bachelor in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience as a Database Engineer or Data Engineer
  • Proficient with SQL (Postgres, Snowflake) and data modeling
  • Experience with batch and streaming data architectures, ELT pipelines using dbt and Snowflake
  • Python development (intermediate to advanced)
  • Performance tuning, partitioning, indexing, and data quality remediation
  • Backup, recovery, and high-availability implementations
  • Experience with AWS data technologies (Glue, Kinesis, Lambda), Airflow, Terraform
  • Awareness of SDLC, CI/CD for data systems, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes)
  • Familiarity with data observability tools and data catalogs
  • Detail-oriented with a data quality mindset
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
  • Self-starter with ownership and continuous improvement
  • OLTP design and optimization

  • Data modeling and data warehouse/lakehouse architectures
