Overview

As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you embed with strategic enterprise customers to design, build, deploy, and run AI-powered production systems alongside their teams. You own outcomes end-to-end, from prototype to enterprise-scale deployment, and create scalable architectures and patterns that advance the FDE practice. You’ll lead multi-workstream technical delivery and drive customer business outcomes with a hands-on, ownership-driven approach. This role combines software craftsmanship with ambitious impact across high-stakes AI programs.

Responsibilities
  • Lead technical delivery across customer engagements and own the technical strategy for complex AI programs
  • Make architecture decisions spanning services and organizational boundaries
  • Architect and build production AI systems at scale (multi-agent orchestration, enterprise retrieval, decision intelligence)
  • Define operational standards, testing, observability, and incident response for AI systems
  • Scale the team by defining patterns, mentoring junior FDEs, and guiding system design and production operations
  • Accelerate customer transformation by expanding AI adoption and creating reusable accelerators and platforms
  • Feed learnings back into AWS services and the FDE practice
Key requirements
  • 5+ years of non-internship software development experience
  • 5+ years of programming experience in at least one language
  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture of systems
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or engineering team lead
  • Experience communicating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences including senior stakeholders
  • Experience leading production-scale AI agent-driven development (AI agents a plus)
  • Experience with AI tools: eval frameworks, agent tooling, RAG pipelines, and prompt engineering
