Overview

As a Senior Lead Software Engineer in the Commodities Transformation Team, you drive the delivery of secure, scalable, market-leading technology for commodities trading. You provide technical guidance across business and tech stakeholders while shaping design and operational practices. You work on next‑gen applications, ensure code quality, and promote responsible AI-assisted engineering to accelerate delivery and stability. This role combines hands-on development with strategic oversight in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical guidance to business and technical teams, contractors, and vendors
  • Develop next-gen applications for global commodities trading desks
  • Deliver secure, high-quality production code and review others’ code
  • Collaborate with Product and Financial Controllers to capture reporting needs and resolve issues
  • Drive adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices with measurable validation standards
  • Leverage agentic development pipelines to accelerate delivery
  • Shape product design, functionality, and operational processes
  • Act as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more focus areas
  • Promote firmwide SDLC frameworks, tools, and practices
Key requirements
  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and advanced applied experience
  • Experience with Front Office Trading Desks
  • High proficiency in Python
  • Strong problem-solving skills for complex reporting and system issues
  • Ability to translate reporting requirements into technical solutions
  • Solid understanding of Risk and PnL reporting infrastructure
  • Hands-on experience in system design, development, testing, and operational stability
  • Advanced in one or more programming languages
  • Experience leading the use of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development tools
  • Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, data sensitivity, and security
  • Experience using agentic development pipelines
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
  • Practical cloud-native experience
  • Preferred: Athena platform experience; Commodities domain knowledge; risk and PnL reporting in Front Office; agile, CI/CD, resiliency, security familiarity
  • Problem-solving mindset
