Sr Mainframe Developer
Contract | Hybrid, Toronto ON | 40 hrs/week | Start: September 25, 2026

We are hiring a Senior Mainframe Developer for a hybrid engagement in downtown Toronto with one of our enterprise consulting clients. This is a hands‑on development role on large, business‑critical mainframe systems, and it suits someone with a deep COBOL background who is comfortable owning design through to production support.

What you will be doing

• Design, develop and enhance mainframe applications using COBOL, CICS, JCL and DB2
• Work across IMS DB/DC and VSAM data structures, including file and database design
• Write, unit test and debug programs, and support automated testing on the mainframe
• Troubleshoot production issues, tune performance and maintain existing systems
• Build and support XML based interfaces and Tibco integrations
• Develop and maintain SAS programs and applications where required
• Partner with business analysts, QA and downstream teams through the full delivery cycle

What we are looking for

• 10+ years of hands‑on mainframe development experience
• Strong COBOL, CICS, JCL, DB2, VSAM and TSO
• IMS DB/DC experience
• Mainframe application design experience, not just maintenance
• SAS and SAS application development
• XML and Tibco
• Automation testing on mainframe
• Solid debugging skills and the ability to work independently in a large, established codebase

Nice to have

• Financial services or banking domain experience
• Experience modernizing or interfacing mainframe systems with distributed platforms

The details

• Location: Toronto, ON. Hybrid, onsite at 199 Bay Street.
• Type: Contract, 40 hours per week, 12 months
• Rate: $58.57/hr on T4
• Target start: September 25, 2026
• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. Background check and proof of address required prior to start.
