Requirements

  • We require 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • We require 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language.
  • We require 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
  • We require experience as a mentor, tech lead, or engineering team lead.
  • We require 2+ years of experience with Rust.
  • We require experience with Apache Iceberg.
  • We prefer a bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent.
  • We prefer 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • We prefer Apache Iceberg committer or PMC member status.

Responsibilities

  • We collaborate with experienced cross-disciplinary Amazonians to conceive, design, and bring innovative products and services to market.
  • We design and build innovative technologies in a large distributed computing environment and help lead fundamental changes in the industry.
  • We work with other team members to investigate design approaches, prototype new technology, and evaluate technical feasibility.
  • We take feature specifications and deliver working code that is maintainable and extendable.
  • We build distributed storage, index, and query systems that are scalable, fault-tolerant, low cost, and easy to manage and use.
  • We design and code the right solutions starting with broadly defined problems.
  • We work in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software.
