Overview

As a Sr. Solutions Design Engineer, you will lead high-impact, cross-border optimization programs across European fulfilment networks and design layouts for current and new centers. You’ll challenge existing processes, drive cost and efficiency improvements, and mentor engineering teams while coordinating with external partners. The role combines hands-on design with strategic program leadership in a fast-paced, innovative culture. Travel up to 50% enables multi-country collaboration and real-world validation of solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Direct complex, high-visibility programs across European and international fulfillment networks
  • Provide strategic oversight of project management, design services, and partner performance for automation initiatives
  • Lead design and engineering efforts with minimal supervision and make high-judgment technical decisions
  • Develop and manage program budgets and drive cost optimization
  • Coordinate external project managers, architects, design consultants, contractors, and subcontractors to align with Amazon priorities
  • Drive cross-team process improvements impacting multiple geographies
  • Lead design evaluations, partner selections, contract negotiations, and procurement
  • Develop measurable program strategies and allocate resources to achieve goals
  • Build relationships with customers, suppliers, and partners; lead complex negotiations
  • Mentor Operations Engineers and contribute to staff development and diversity initiatives
  • Shape long-term strategy with data-driven recommendations and senior leadership
  • Represent engineering perspectives in senior leadership forums and business reviews
Key requirements
  • Experience in technical leadership for industrial engineering projects or programs
  • Program management experience spanning planning, execution, and delivery
  • English fluency at C1 level or above
  • Strong technical background in automated or non-automated material handling equipment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Structural, Civil Engineering, or Architecture (or country equivalent)
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
