Overview

In this role you will design, build, and operate scalable cloud infrastructure on AWS to support Visa’s cross-border payments network. You’ll collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to improve reliability, security, and performance. You’ll work on automation, IaC, and containerised workloads to enable fast, secure delivery at scale. The opportunity combines cloud engineering, security governance, and SRE practices in a global payments context, offering meaningful impact and growth.

Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and maintain AWS services at scale (EC2, EKS, ECR, S3, KMS, VPC, RDS, ElastiCache, OpenSearch, SageMaker, CloudWatch)
  • Optimise network configurations across VPCs and security groups; manage transit gateways and routing
  • Develop and maintain IaC with Terraform; create reusable secure modules
  • Implement containerised workloads on Kubernetes (EKS); manage Helm deployments; work with Istio service mesh
  • Design and optimise CI/CD pipelines (ArgoCD, Jenkins, Terraform Cloud); automate deployment, testing and release processes
  • Enhance monitoring and observability with CloudWatch, Datadog, OpenTelemetry; contribute to SRE initiatives
  • Enforce cloud security best practices (IAM, encryption, secrets governance); manage AWS KMS key lifecycle
  • Collaborate with developers, data teams, and platform engineering; document architectures and runbooks; mentor associates
  • Leverage AI tooling (Claude Code, Copilot) for IaC and automation while ensuring security/compliance; evaluate AI-generated changes
  • Contribute to automation of BAU workflows via AI-driven agents (triage, vuln scanning, upgrade checks) and maintain prompt tooling knowledge
Key requirements
  • Professional AWS experience operating production workloads
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of core AWS services (EC2, VPC, IAM, RDS, S3)
  • Proficiency with Terraform and IaC patterns
  • Strong understanding of Docker and Kubernetes (EKS)
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
  • Scripting experience (Python, Bash)
  • Experience with monitoring/observability stacks (CloudWatch, Datadog, OpenTelemetry)
  • Networking fundamentals (DNS, routing, VPNs, load balancing, firewalls)
  • Git version-control discipline (GitHub or similar)
  • Understanding of DevOps practices and cloud operational best practices
  • Analytical and troubleshooting mindset
  • Proactive and independent with collaborative teamwork
  • Excellent communication skills
