Staff Accountant

The useful thing about working in a smaller CPA firm is that nobody has invented seventeen different departments to prevent you from seeing how the whole thing works.

This Staff Accountant opportunity is with an established Burlington CPA firm where you’ll work across year-end accounting, tax and client files rather than being confined to one narrow area.

You’ll work closely with experienced accountants and Partners, deal directly with clients and gradually take greater ownership as your experience develops.

What you’ll be doing:

• Prepare year-end working paper files
• Prepare corporate and personal tax returns
• Assist with bookkeeping and adjusting entries where required
• Prepare financial statements
• Communicate directly with clients
• Follow up on outstanding information
• Support senior team members on larger files
• Gradually take greater ownership of files as your experience develops

What they’re looking for:

• Previous Canadian public accounting experience
• Experience preparing year-end files
• Corporate and personal tax exposure
• Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals
• Comfortable communicating with clients
• Strong organizational skills
• DT Max / Dr Tax experience would be particularly valuable
• CaseWare, QuickBooks or similar software exposure
• CPA studies underway or an interest in pursuing the designation would be an advantage

This is an in-office position in Burlington, although there is flexibility around working hours.
