Staff Agentic Engineer

In this role, you will work in a cross-functional engineering team to translate business problems into practical, value-driven software solutions. You’ll apply agentic AI, systems thinking, and data insights to understand friction points and guide architecture and product roadmaps. You will prototype short-term solutions with business users, influence decision makers, and collaborate closely with stakeholders to deliver measurable improvements in retail operations. This is a hybrid, London-based role that connects technology with business impact in a leading UK retailer.

• Collaborate with business users to define poorly defined problems and identify opportunities to improve processes
• Influence key decision makers using clear communication and stakeholder engagement
• Apply systems thinking, agentic AI, and data analysis to understand underlying issues
• Leverage agentic engineering to explore options for addressing business challenges
• Prototype short-term solutions with business users to drive immediate value
• Inform architecture and product roadmaps using insights from business operations
• Work in a small team to connect technology with business needs
• Engage with cloud-based data platforms and deployment environments as needed

• Java (or Kotlin) backend development for reliable, high-performing services
• Extensive software engineering experience in a complex commercial environment
• Experience of Agentic Engineering including agentic coding environments and automated workflows
• Experience building/implementing agentic systems using frameworks and advanced prompt/context engineering
• Understanding of state & memory management, deterministic guardrails, evals, tool & API integration, and agentic protocols (MCP, A2A, UCP)
• Experience with Snowflake (cloud data platform)
• Experience deploying/running solutions on cloud infrastructure (GCP)
• Proven ability to translate raw data into actionable insights
