Overview
As Head of Analytics Engineering, you will own and elevate our data models and self-serve analytics at scale for a rapidly growing cross-border payments platform. You’ll design, build, and maintain the dbt modelling layer used by Finance, Product, Markets, and beyond to empower data-driven decisions. You’ll set the technical bar, tackle hard modeling problems, and enable trusted data across the company. This senior IC role blends hands-on development with leadership in a fast-paced, globally distributed environment.
Responsibilities- Own dbt transformation: design and implement mission-critical models with standards, tests, and documentation for reliability and performance at scale
- Proactively surface issues through dashboards, alerts, and tools to prevent incidents
- Build the knowledge layer with docs and quality checks to enable self-serve analytics across teams
- Leverage AI tools across the modelling lifecycle to accelerate development and improve data quality
- Tackle high-priority domain data projects and complex problems
- Champion data practices: peer-review code, share best practices in meetups, mentor the team, raise the data bar for the company
- 7+ years in a data role (Analytics Eng and/or Data Science)
- Strong SQL skills and experience with large, complex datasets in dbt
- Strong communication and stakeholder management
- Hands-on experience with cloud tech (AWS, GCP or Azure) and a modern cloud warehouse (Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery)
- Fluency with modern BI tools (Looker, Mode) and enablement of self-serve analytics
- Experience with Python and/or R
- Detail-oriented and pragmatic, with a 'no task too small' attitude
- Right to work in one of UK/US/UAE hubs
