Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer on the AI Workbench platform, you design and build distributed systems for the ML lifecycle, enabling data scientists and engineers to train, deploy, and operate deep physics models. You own end-to-end delivery in a domain bridging AI platforms and infrastructure, shaping architecture and tooling. You mentor engineers, stay hands-on, and collaborate across teams to reduce ambiguity and accelerate simulation-driven innovation. This role offers impact across data processing, model training, and inference in a fast-moving, hardware-aware company.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement distributed services and APIs for high-dimensional simulation data across ML lifecycle (data processing, training, inference)
  • Own end-to-end delivery in the space between AI platform and infrastructure, building strong cross-team relationships
  • Develop tools to automate data ingestion/processing pipelines and support active learning loops
  • Architect and integrate storage, warehouses, and data lakes for complex simulations and multimodal data
  • Deploy and support services across multiple production environments (cloud, on-prem, air-gapped)
  • Define system architecture, balancing performance, reliability, cost, and developer experience
  • Contribute to Technical Decision Records and Technology Radar discussions
  • Mentor engineers at varying career stages and maintain hands-on coding involvement
  • Communicate clearly with stakeholders across engineering, delivery, and customer-facing teams
Key requirements
  • Strong Kubernetes experience with CRDs, Operators, and tools like Helm or ArgoCD
  • Expertise in Go with working knowledge of Python; Rust is valued
  • Experience deploying services in multiple production environments
  • ML platform background or data science experience; understanding how ML practitioners think
  • Intellectual curiosity and proactive problem-solving
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with senior-level or staff-level leadership experience
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity and startup-like environment
