In this Staff Platform Architect role, you will shape the core Platform across Core Platform teams, guiding architecture for execution, infrastructure, data, and frontend platforms. You’ll enable 80+ product engineers and the open-source community to build confidently across cloud and self-hosted deployments. You drive durable platform decisions, foster coherence, and mentor teams to scale with resilience. Responsibilities
  • Set architectural direction across Core Platform to ensure cohesive evolution of execution, infrastructure, data, and frontend systems
  • Drive architecture across two Core Platform teams and align them to a coherent platform
  • Design adaptable backend foundations that support multiple workloads and deployment models
  • Collaborate with the FE platform workstream on canvas architecture, real-time comms, plugin contracts, and platform primitives
  • Evolve subsystems: durable workflow execution, orchestration, queues, worker management, scheduling, and horizontal scaling
  • Shape data and persistence architecture including database scaling, migrations, and deployment abstractions
  • Lead technical decisions via clear proposals and RFCs, and define stable interfaces to reduce coupling
  • Mentor engineers through design reviews and guidance to raise architecture and maintainability
Key requirements
  • Staff-level architectural ownership with track record of leading architecture across multiple systems or teams
  • Systems thinking with focus on invariants, correctness, failure modes, and trade-offs
  • Configurable systems designed for multiple use cases at scale
  • Distributed systems depth including asynchronous processing, idempotency, state machines, queues, consistency, resilience
  • Data architecture at scale with emphasis on persistence, performance, isolation, and reliability
  • Strong TypeScript experience and backend experience in Node.js
  • Cross-team technical leadership with influence through RFCs and design reviews
  • Platform enablement mindset focusing on contracts, abstractions, and developer experiences
  • Long-horizon engineering mindset for modularization, migrations, and evolving existing systems
