Staff Financial Systems Engineer

Design ledger architecture in Seattle with Rippling, applying backend development and distributed systems expertise to money movement and treasury systems.

As a Staff Software Engineer on Rippling's Financial Services team, you will anchor the Money Movement and Treasury architecture hub. You will own deterministic, config-driven, incrementally testable ledger architecture. The work supports reconciliation, tax liabilities, payment systems, and regulatory reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Redesign General Ledger and reconciliation systems for deterministic processing
• Establish universal primitives across historically disjointed payment systems
• Develop reconciliation replay and testing frameworks with Payments Data
• Anchor the Seattle site and mentor Senior engineers
• Collaborate with Tax and Accounting teams on requirements

Requirements:

• Eight or more years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong backend development and distributed systems background
• Large-scale fault-tolerant architecture design experience
• Proficiency in Python, Go, Java, or another modern backend language
• Experience with SQL or NoSQL and Spark or Flink
