Staff Forward Deployed Engineer

As a Staff Forward Deployed Engineer, you lead complex Maia rollouts end-to-end, architecting production-grade data solutions across multi-cloud platforms. You work with cross-functional teams to accelerate adoption, deliver fast MVPs, and provide hands-on engineering leadership under pressure. You directly influence product feedback, reusable frameworks, and customer outcomes at scale. This role offers high visibility across Sales, Product, Engineering, and Customer Success with a focus on impactful technical delivery and mentorship.

• Own end-to-end customer engagements from discovery to production cut-over
• Architect multi-cloud deployments and build complex data pipelines and integrations
• Modify Matillion’s underlying codebase where platform features are missing
• Deliver rapid MVPs by diagnosing root problems and refining scope
• Act as a cross-functional catalyst to resolve escalations and build executive trust
• Train internal champions and prepare handover documentation for support teams
• Secure technical wins in pre-sales through discovery, PoCs, and strategy work
• Influence product evolution by capturing repeat delivery patterns and feedback
• Integrate AI tools across the delivery lifecycle and enforce quality standards
• Mentor junior engineers, shape hiring standards, and keep AI/cloud expertise current

• 5+ years in production-grade software development and data integration with Python, SQL, and OO languages (Java/Go)
• Deep knowledge of distributed systems, data architecture, CI/CD, Kubernetes, secure networking, and at least one cloud provider (AWS/Azure/GCP)
• Hands-on experience with scalable data pipelines and platforms like Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, or BigQuery
• Experience with AI tooling, production LLMs, RAG, and AI agents
• Customer-facing delivery experience including pre-sales, implementation, and escalation management
• Excellent communication with executives and technical teams
• Strong architectural judgment and ability to balance speed, scalability, and maintainability
• Autonomy to deliver production systems in high-pressure environments
