Overview

In this role, you lead the AI-native Internal Developer Platform, enabling engineering and product teams to build, deploy, and run software at scale. You shape the platform roadmap, deliver self-service capabilities, and promote governance, security, and reliability. You’ll drive AI-assisted workflows to boost productivity and reduce operational complexity, partnering with cross-functional squads to deliver scalable, observable systems. This is a venture to scale a modern platform that supports innovation across Vodafone Group and partners.

Responsibilities
  • Define and evolve the platform roadmap as a product with adoption and performance targets
  • Design and deliver self-service capabilities, reusable golden paths, and standard service templates
  • Provide technical direction across compute, Kubernetes, networking, secrets, observability, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code
  • Enable AI-assisted engineering workflows to improve productivity and decision-making
  • Embed policy-as-code with governance, security, and compliance controls
  • Improve reliability with SLOs, observability, resilience engineering, and incident-driven improvements
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, security, and architecture teams to translate needs into scalable platform solutions
  • Advance engineering excellence through automation, standardisation, and FinOps awareness
  • Mentor engineers, review designs, and share knowledge through documentation and coaching
Key requirements
  • Experience designing and operating internal developer platforms, cloud-native systems, or distributed architectures
  • Ability to identify high-impact technical challenges aligned to platform strategy
  • Strong tech skills across cloud platforms, Kubernetes, IaC, CI/CD, observability, networking, and security
  • Proficiency in Python, Go, or Java with experience building platform tools or APIs
  • Knowledge of AI-assisted engineering approaches and automation
  • Capability to define and improve technical quality at scale and reduce risk
  • Understanding of platform-as-a-product principles and adoption metrics
  • Experience defining SLOs, monitoring, alerts, and incident management
  • Influence across teams, mentor colleagues, and translate vision into outcomes
  • Comfort with ambiguity, trade-offs, and complex decision-making
