Overview

As Staff Platform Engineer at hx, you define the architectural direction of our AI-first platform, enabling secure, scalable self-service infrastructure and automated workflows. You’ll align engineering, security, and reliability with long-term business outcomes, shaping how teams across the company build AI-enabled capabilities. You’ll mentor senior engineers, drive cross-team coherence, and establish patterns that accelerate delivery while reducing risk. This is a hands-on leadership role in a fast‑growing insurtech, framed by a culture of growth and impact.

Responsibilities
  • Set a 12–18 month technical direction for the platform with clear milestones and stakeholder alignment
  • Drive broad adoption of platform capabilities through well-designed, well-documented features that reduce friction
  • Define architectural patterns enabling autonomous and AI-augmented workflows
  • Embed security, reliability, and operational excellence standards into all teams
  • Develop senior engineers by solving hard problems and raising the team’s capability
  • Shape AI-first, self-service infrastructure patterns across the organization
  • Represent platform strategy to senior leadership and translate engineering constraints to business terms
Key requirements
  • Defined architecture, standards, and patterns for the platform over multiple quarters
  • Ability to navigate disagreements among senior engineers and stakeholders and keep decisions durable
  • Accountability for outcomes spanning multiple teams without being the sole hands-on contributor
  • Experience embedding AI and automation at an architectural level to make them default
  • Understanding adoption dynamics and feedback-driven platform roadmaps
  • Identified and mitigated architectural, security, and operational risks before incidents
  • Ability to communicate platform strategy to leadership and tie it to business outcomes
  • Experience developing and elevating senior engineers through technical challenge
