As a Staff Platform Engineer, you will shape the architecture of Index Cloud, a multi-tenant, globally distributed compute platform. You’ll drive large-scale infrastructure work and guide technical direction across teams, focusing on scalable, real-time systems. You enable engineers to ship quickly through self-service tooling and platform APIs. This role sits at the core of building a platform‑as‑a‑product at internet scale, turning complex problems into reliable, developer-friendly foundations. - Design and deliver multi-tenant Kubernetes infrastructure across bare-metal and public cloud
- Build infrastructure-as-code frameworks enabling changes across thousands of servers
- Develop standard libraries, SDKs, and platform APIs used by all engineering teams
- Drive architectural direction through RFCs and design reviews; set tooling and security standards
- Create self-service tooling and platform APIs to accelerate engineering delivery
- Mentor engineers and foster engineering excellence across multiple related teams
- 8+ years in platform engineering, SRE, infrastructure engineering, or DevOps
- Deep experience with Linux internals (kernel tuning, networking, observability, security)
- Strong Kubernetes expertise (cluster lifecycle, networking, storage, RBAC, multi-cluster) across bare-metal and cloud
- Infrastructure-as-code at scale (Terraform, Ansible, GitOps via ArgoCD or similar)
- Proficiency in Go, Python, or both for building libraries, SDKs, and APIs
- Solid networking fundamentals (L2-L7), load balancing, DNS, service discovery
- Track record of driving technical strategy across teams
- Strong collaboration and communication across cross-functional teams
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and influence without authority
- Devotion to developer experience and operational readiness
- Kubernetes (EKS, GKE) and bare-metal setups
- Linux internals and system tuning
- Terraform, Ansible, GitOps (ArgoCD)
