Overview

As a Robotics Software Engineer on the Online Calibration team, you will turn calibration and estimation methods into robust onboard software that runs on constrained hardware. You collaborate across calibration, state estimation, and vehicle-platform teams to shape a foundational capability that impacts vehicle performance and safety. You will deliver production-grade calibration code, validate systems, and optimize for real-time, resource-constrained environments. This role offers hands-on work with cross-functional teams to advance autonomous driving at scale.

Pay / Benefits
  • Hybrid working
  • Equity and ownership in Wayve
  • Relocation support and visa sponsorship
  • Learning and development budgets
  • Health insurance
  • Maternity/paternity leave
Responsibilities
  • Extend and productionise the online calibration node within the team architecture
  • Adapt calibration and estimation algorithms for onboard execution (continuous or on-demand)
  • Handle asynchronous sensor data and noisy calibration parameters in hardware-accelerated pipelines
  • Strengthen interfaces between calibration, onboard state, runtime consumers, and fleet systems
  • Profile and optimise compute, memory, storage, and latency while preserving correctness
  • Develop and run simulation, replay, bench, and on-vehicle tests; improve fleet observability and diagnostics
Key requirements
  • Strong practical expertise in sensor calibration, state estimation, or related robotics domain (e.g., cameras, LiDAR, IMUs, multi-sensor systems)
  • Solid understanding of filtering and estimation methods (e.g., Kalman filters, Bayesian estimation, smoothing, robust estimation, factor-graph optimisation)
  • Proficiency in modern C++ and Python for prototyping and tooling
  • Experience productionising algorithm-heavy robotics software for vehicles or edge platforms with clear lifecycle and failure handling
  • Experience with asynchronous, high-throughput sensor data and hardware-accelerated pipelines
  • Strong software architecture, API design, testing, debugging, and performance profiling skills
  • End-to-end ownership and cross-functional collaboration
  • Bonus: experience with visual odometry, SLAM, localisation, sensor fusion, and hardware-accelerated workloads
  • cross-functional collaboration
  • problem-solving under constraints
  • debugging and observability mindset
  • C++
