As a Staff Software Engineer at Axon, you will shape the technical direction for the DEMS domain, building reliable and secure large-scale systems. Responsibilities
  • Set the technical bar through architecture leadership and rigorous design reviews
  • Drive technical direction across one or more DEMS domains ensuring scalability, security, and resilience
  • Partner with Engineering, Product, Design, and cross-functional teams to tackle complex challenges
  • Lead design and evolution of backend services, APIs, data flows, and system integrations
  • Identify systemic risks and drive improvements in reliability, observability, performance, and operations
  • Mentor engineers across teams and grow future technical leaders
  • Improve engineering effectiveness by simplifying complexity and promoting high-quality execution
  • Contribute directly to implementation in high-leverage or high-risk areas
Key requirements
  • 15+ years of software engineering experience
  • Experience building and scaling complex software products in a collaborative team
  • Deep expertise in backend systems and distributed system design
  • Strong experience with cloud platforms and production service operations
  • Experience driving technical solutions across multiple teams or broad product areas
  • Strong understanding of system design, reliability, performance, observability, and security
  • Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases
  • Track record of writing clean, maintainable, production-grade code
  • Proven ability to influence technical direction without formal authority
