About Owlue

Owlue is a seed-stage company that already earns revenue. We automate property tax appeals end to end: finding over-assessed homes, valuing them, building the evidence and filing. The filing is the easy part. The hard part is building a case an appeals board will accept, for thousands of homes, in counties that each record and value property differently.

The role

Most appraisers have never written a line of code. Most engineers have never defended a comp grid. We're looking for someone who has done both.

You'll build the engine that does what a good appraiser does, at scale. Every county is its own puzzle. King and Kitsap in Washington look nothing like Miami-Dade and Broward in Florida, and the model has to know the difference.

What you'll do

• Own county valuation models end to end, from raw county data to the evidence packet a homeowner files

• Select comparable sales the way a reviewer would: same class, close in time and distance, and bracketing the subject on the features that matter

• Measure adjustments from the market instead of assuming them: time trends, condition, view, waterfront, site, basements

• Encode the rules of each jurisdiction: gross adjustment limits, the subject's own recent sale, and the fields a county doesn't record

• Write the grid and the narrative the way a board of equalization expects to read them

• Work alongside the engineer who built our first county models and directly with the founders.

What we're looking for

• Experience as an appraiser or assessor, or in property tax consulting. You know what paired sales analysis is, why bracketing matters, and how a hearing actually goes.

• Production coding experience, comfortable in Python and SQL. You've built models, not just used them. xhqgsiq

• When a number looks wrong, you want to know why.

Nice to have

• Mass appraisal or CAMA experience

• IAAO coursework, USPAP, or a designation (MAI, SRA, CAE)

• Regression or hedonic modeling

What we offer

• Full-time W2, remote anywhere in the US

• Meaningful early-employee equity

• Health, dental and vision coverage

• Flexible PTO

How to apply

  • Send your resume or LinkedIn profile, along with one paragraph about a valuation you had to defend: what the other side argued and how you held your number.
