Overview

In this role you will shape the architectural vision for a high-velocity, cloud-based exchange platform underpinning Robinhood’s global expansion. You’ll lead modernization of core services, drive scalable, low-latency infrastructure, and align cross-org teams to deliver resilient systems. You’ll mentor engineers, steward engineering standards, and own critical initiatives that balance speed, reliability, and cost. Responsibilities
  • Define and drive the long-term architectural vision for high-availability, low-latency cloud platforms
  • Lead multi-quarter modernization of foundational services into containerized cloud environments
  • Direct technical alignment and distributed architecture bridging Bitstamp and Robinhood infrastructures
  • Reduce operational toil and technical debt with self-healing systems and automation
  • Take end-to-end ownership of ambiguous, high-impact initiatives
  • Mentor senior engineers and establish engineering best practices
  • Act as senior escalation point for incidents and lead post-mortems to ensure platform integrity
Key requirements
  • 8+ years in backend and distributed systems engineering with staff-level or technical leadership experience
  • Deep expertise in containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and AWS services (EC2, ECS/EKS, Aurora, DynamoDB)
  • Strong understanding of high-concurrency, low-latency architectures and event-driven systems
  • Proven ability to take problems from inception to production with measurable business impact
  • Excellent cross-functional communication to align stakeholders across geographies
