Staff Software Engineer, Agentic Platform

As a Staff-level Backend Engineer (AI) at Tide, you will shape the core services powering our agentic platform and AI-enabled workflows. You’ll design scalable APIs and orchestration components, integrating internal and third‑party platforms while ensuring security and reliability. You collaborate with product, data, platform, and security teams to productionise AI capabilities and set reusable engineering patterns. This role offers the chance to influence long-term technical direction within a fast-moving fintech environment focused on data-driven decisions. You’ll work at the intersection of backend systems and Generative AI to enable scalable, trusted AI-powered solutions for SMEs.

• Build core services for Tide’s agentic platform, including APIs, workflow orchestration, and tool integration
• Integrate bought components where they accelerate delivery, and build where control, trust, and reuse matter most
• Collaborate with product, data, platform, and security teams to productionise shared AI capabilities
• Design services that are reliable, secure, observable, and easy for other teams to adopt
• Help shape reusable engineering patterns for AI-enabled workflows

• Strong backend or platform engineering experience in production environments
• Good judgment across APIs, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and service design
• Experience integrating internal and third-party platforms
• Comfort working in ambiguity and turning emerging needs into robust platform components
• Strong focus on quality, reliability, and developer usability
• Experience with AI infrastructure or orchestration is helpful but not essential
• Experience in highly regulated industries (Fintech, Healthtech, etc.) where safety and compliance are core to the product is valuable but not essential
• Design and build automated evaluation pipelines to measure agent reasoning accuracy and safety trajectories
