Overview

As a Staff Software Engineer in the Content Domain Team, you will shape the core content and media platform used across M&S digital experiences. You’ll enable product, engineering, and content teams by building scalable backend capabilities, APIs, and tooling that accelerate delivery and improve editor and developer experiences. You’ll own event-driven workflows and federated GraphQL architecture, driving platform standards and governance. This is a unique chance to influence how content, media, and DAM capabilities are modeled and delivered at scale.

Responsibilities
  • Design and evolve backend-heavy platform capabilities for content and media, including APIs, services, automation pipelines, and developer tooling
  • Lead the design of event-driven architectures (Kafka / Confluent or equivalent) to support scalable content and asset workflows
  • Own and evolve our federated GraphQL architecture, including schemas, orchestration, versioning, and standards
  • Contribute hands-on production-quality code and tackle complex domain challenges
  • Act as a technical authority on content platforms, headless CMS, DAM, and API-driven architectures within M&S
Key requirements
  • Strong platform mindset focusing on enabling multiple teams
  • Deep backend engineering experience with Java and distributed systems in production
  • Strong Azure cloud platform experience for scalable, reliable services
  • Solid understanding of event-driven architectures (Kafka/Confluent)
  • Hands-on experience with GraphQL—schema design, federation, evolution, API governance (must have)
  • Experience with headless CMS platforms and content modelling (strong plus)
  • Working knowledge of TypeScript and JavaScript in API/tooling/integration contexts
