Overview

As an Applied AI Engineer at Addepar, you will build AI-powered agents and tools from idea to production, closely collaborating with clients and engineers. You’ll prototype, evaluate, and ship capabilities that fit real client workflows, shaping product features for a broad base of customers. The role emphasizes building robust AI systems, tool integrations, and production readiness with a strong feedback loop from end users. You will join a new team where your work directly influences what we ship and how clients experience our solutions. This is a hands-on, client-facing opportunity with growth across AI infrastructure and deployment.

Responsibilities
  • Build AI-powered agents and tools end-to-end: identify client problems, prototype quickly, evaluate rigorously, and ship to production
  • Design and implement LLM integrations including prompt engineering, function calling, structured outputs, and retrieval-augmented workflows
  • Define evaluation criteria and build test harnesses for AI systems with ambiguous, domain-specific correctness
  • Work directly with clients to understand workflows, validate AI behavior, and iterate toward production quality
  • Partner with core engineering teams to generalize client-specific work into product features
  • Contribute to shared AI infrastructure (agent frameworks, tool integrations, deployment pipelines)
  • Monitor and maintain production AI systems focusing on reliability, cost, and performance
Key requirements
  • Extensive professional software engineering experience
  • Professional experience with Python
  • Experience with LLM APIs (Claude, GPT, or similar) including function calling and structured outputs
  • Comfort with SQL for data exploration and data-grounded AI workflows
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Codex, or similar)
  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Mathematics, or another quantitative field, or equivalent experience
