Staff Software Engineer, Data Enrichment Platform

As Staff Software Engineer for the Data Enrichment Platform, you will set the long-term technical direction for systems that enable model deployment, evaluation, and continuous improvement on petabyte-scale driving data. You’ll shape a scalable backend platform used across model engineering, infrastructure, compute, and data teams, focusing on reliability, self-service, and cost efficiency. Your work spans large GPU fleets, data locality, scheduling, and observability to drive better model quality. This role offers hands-on leadership across teams with tangible impact on Wayve’s autonomous driving capabilities.

• Define the technical vision and architecture for the Data Enrichment Platform
• Lead backend services, APIs, model-execution workflows, versioned outputs, annotation capabilities and dataset catalogs
• Build scalable systems for large-scale inference, automated evaluation, model monitoring, active learning and retraining
• Collaborate with platform teams on data locality, scheduling, capacity, backpressure, failure recovery, observability and cost
• Make build/buy/reuse decisions as requirements evolve
• Establish clear boundaries and relationships across AI Platform, infrastructure, compute, storage, data and model-engineering teams
• Remain hands-on while leading cross-team delivery and mentoring engineers
• Define measurable service levels and success metrics for reliability, throughput, cost, automation and adoption

• Own long-term technical direction and measurable outcomes for a complex, multi-system platform
• Strong production software engineering in Python for backend services, APIs and data-processing systems
• Deep experience designing and operating large-scale distributed data/compute workloads
• Track record of productising internal platforms for broad adoption with focus on reliability, usability and self-service
• Excellent architecture and technology judgement with hands-on leadership across teams
• Strong communication and influencing skills plus mentoring of senior engineers
