Staff Software Engineer- Hospitality

As a Staff Engineer in M&S's Software Engineering team, you will set technical direction for hospitality tech platforms used across Scan & Shop, Digital Café and in-store experiences. You will lead architectural decisions, build scalable platforms, and mentor engineers to raise the technical bar across the organization. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional partners to align technology with business aims while delivering resilient, observable systems at scale. • Define and deliver the technical strategy and architecture roadmap for hospitality technology platforms
• Lead design and implementation of complex engineering capabilities, creating reusable platforms, tooling and services
• Drive operational excellence: resilience, observability, incident management and platform performance
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, vendors and stakeholders to evaluate technology decisions and manage technical risk
• Coach and mentor engineers, champion best practices, contribute to recruitment and technical communities across M&S

• Experience designing and delivering large-scale distributed systems (Java, Spring Boot or similar)
• Expertise in cloud-based technologies, infrastructure platforms, DevOps, automation and observability
• Ability to influence technical strategy, architecture decisions and engineering standards across multiple teams
• Strong knowledge of APIs, microservices, platform engineering principles and high-availability operations
• Proven mentoring ability and capacity to build collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders
