In this role you will shape and scale Marks & Spencer’s Payments Platform within a digital-first, engineering-led transformation. You’ll own end-to-end payment outcomes, collaborate with architects and engineers, and drive secure, resilient live payment services across stores and digital channels. You will lead design decisions, champion DevOps and automation, and mentor your peers to raise engineering quality. - Lead the design and delivery of complex payment capabilities with secure, scalable, and maintainable solutions
- Shape the technical direction and architecture of payment systems in collaboration with architects and engineering leaders
- Drive engineering excellence through DevOps, automation, operational improvements and incident management
- Mentor and support engineers through coaching, code reviews and knowledge sharing to build payment domain expertise
- Strong software engineering experience with Java preferred
- Deep expertise operating large-scale cloud-based platforms on Azure (preferred), AWS or GCP
- Strong understanding of platform engineering, SRE, observability and monitoring tools such as Dynatrace or equivalent
- Experience implementing CI/CD practices and modern DevOps tooling, ideally GitHub Actions
- Passion for engineering quality, testing, mentoring and driving continuous improvement across teams and platforms
