Overview

In this Connectivity role, you design and operate the core connectivity infrastructure behind external tool calls, ensuring secure and scalable access. You’ll own reliability for MCP proxy, OAuth and token management, enabling enterprise IT to govern agent actions. You’ll build admin controls and contribute to the MCP standard and SDKs, shaping how Anthropic’s products connect with external systems. You’ll translate ambiguous problems into shipped solutions and drive cross-org alignment on multi-month initiatives. This role offers impact across Anthropic’s platform used by many teams and partners.

Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and operate core connectivity infrastructure (MCP proxy, OAuth and token management) for external tool calls
  • Own reliability: define and meet SLOs, handle on-call, incidents, and postmortems
  • Develop admin controls and permission models for enterprise IT governance
  • Contribute to the MCP standard and its ecosystem, including SDKs in Python and TypeScript
  • Turn ambiguous outcomes into shipped, scoped work and dogfood features in products
  • Scope complex, multi-month projects and drive cross-org alignment
  • Partner with research to productize cutting-edge capabilities and impact the platform used by many organizations
Key requirements
  • Experience as a backend or platform engineer
  • Familiarity with using AI tools in the software development process
  • Product-focused approach to platform work, building robust, scalable, and usable solutions
  • Ownership mindset across design, build, deployment, and operations
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and make independent technical decisions
  • Experience operating production distributed systems with reliability, observability, and incident response at scale
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build consensus across teams and time zones
