Staff Software Engineer — Runtimes Performance

In this role you will optimize managed language runtimes and compilers to boost performance on Arm hardware. You’ll tackle bottlenecks across language workloads and collaborate with hardware teams to align runtimes with CPU design. You’ll contribute to open-source projects and work with cross-functional teams to advance Arm’s language support. This position offers impact through performance engineering on cutting-edge architectures and active community involvement.

- Identify and implement compiler/runtime optimizations to enhance workload performance and Arm feature support
- Detect bottlenecks in language workloads using profiling tools
- Collaborate with Arm teams to improve architecture and CPU support
- Develop new runtime/compile features and optimize existing ones (garbage collectors, interpreters, passes, intrinsics)
- Contribute to open-source projects and engage with the community
- Contribute to automated functionality and performance testing frameworks
- Experience with managed runtimes, compilers, or similar technologies
- Strong C/C++ programming skills
- Familiar with assembly-level performance analysis tools
- Knowledge of computer architecture and microarchitecture concepts like pipelines and caches
- Proficiency in software development practices (coding, testing, debugging, reviewing)
