You lead BRE’s Structural Technology activities, guiding high-quality engineering, testing and assurance work that supports business growth and industry impact. You collaborate across teams to apply structural principles, codes and standards to real-world projects, advancing safety and sustainability in the built environment. You’ll build influential client relationships, contribute to business development, and shape BRE’s technical reputation. This role combines deep engineering expertise with strategic leadership to drive impactful, science-led solutions.

- Lead and manage the Structural Technology team to meet objectives, resources, and sustainable growth.
- Provide technical leadership across projects, delivering testing, assessment, inspection, and consultancy within quality, safety, and commercial targets.
- Drive business development by identifying opportunities and cultivating client relationships.
- Represent BRE externally at industry events and build strategic partnerships.
- Lead client engagement, understand requirements, and prepare high-quality proposals and reports with expert structural guidance.
- Apply advanced structural engineering knowledge, static/dynamic mechanics, and BS EN standards to develop tests and assess performance.
- Utilise expertise in structural design, fire-resistant design per BS EN, and assessment of UK construction methods for diverse projects.
- Collaborate across Structural Technology, Structural Fire, Product Testing, and other BRE teams for efficient delivery and knowledge sharing.
- Ensure safe laboratory and site activities in line with quality procedures and standards.
- Mentor and develop team capability, promoting collaboration and continuous technical excellence.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- Proven track record leading complex structural engineering activities
- Strong knowledge of BS and EN codes and standards
- Understanding of static and dynamic structural behaviour and engineering mechanics
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to develop and review technical proposals, reports, and inspection documentation
- Experience contributing to business development, client engagement, and external representation
- Knowledge of UK construction methods, materials, and historic/modern forms
- Experience with structural fire design and assessment per relevant standards
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and standard Microsoft applications
