Ovintiv's Chief Digital Office (CDO) brings together the teams that build, protect, operate and modernize our technology and data environment.
As a summer student, you will work closely with an experienced mentor and apply what you are learning in school to meaningful projects supporting Ovintiv’s operational and corporate teams. This opportunity is designed for students interested in technology careers as well as digitally minded engineering students who want to explore a summer engineering role with a stronger software, data or digital focus.
We are currently seeking Technology, Data & Digital Summer Students to work in our Calgary office. Work assignments may include:
- Software Development and Digital Solutions: Support full-stack application development, workflow automation and testing using technologies such as React and Python, with exposure to AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot and Claude Code.
- Data and AI: Assist with data engineering, analytics, visualization, business intelligence, data science or AI solutions using technologies such as Databricks, dbt, Terraform, SQL and Python, and BI and analytics tools such as Power BI or Spotfire.
- Cybersecurity: Support threat monitoring, vulnerability and risk assessments, security technology administration, incident response preparedness, audits, and security awareness and training activities.
- Cloud and IT Operations: Assist with cloud, infrastructure, network, application or end-user technology projects and troubleshooting.
- Digital Engineering: Apply engineering knowledge, data and technology to challenges involving drilling, completions, production, facilities or other business functions.
- Business Analysis and Project Delivery: Help improve processes, gather requirements and coordinate technology initiatives using agile project delivery methods.
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, data science, management information systems, cybersecurity, petroleum engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer or systems engineering, mathematics, statistics, business analytics or another related technical program.
- Demonstrated solid academic results balanced with work, volunteer or extracurricular experience.
- Must be enrolled as a full-time student through December 2027.
- Must be available May 3 - August 19, 2027.

In accordance with applicable law, the following represents Ovintiv's reasonable estimate of the hiring compensation range for this role. Hiring Hourly Range: $23.75 - $34.90 CAD Compensation may vary and will be determined by year in school.
