Clinical Role

RecruitWell is seeking a Board-Certified General Surgeon for a locums opportunity in Hazard, Kentucky. This assignment focuses on inpatient and call coverage, including emergency general surgery and trauma-related cases. Multiple providers may be accepted.

Assignment Details

• Hospital setting

• 99-bed facility

• Level IV Trauma Center

• Stroke-certified hospital

• Facility will accept multiple providers

• Call coverage for assigned patients

• 30-minute call response time required

Current Coverage Dates

October 2026

• October 23 at 7:00 am-October 26 at 7:00 am

• October 29 at 7:00 am-November 2 at 7:00 am

November 2026

• November 26 at 7:00 am-November 30 at 7:00 am

December 2026-January 2027

• December 24 at 7:00 am-January 3 at 7:00 am

Call Coverage

• Beeper call

• Call is for assigned patients

• Approximately 10 phone consults

• Approximately 10 patients seen while on call

• Required response time: 30 minutes

Practice Setting & Case Mix

• Inpatient General Surgery

• Emergency General Surgery

• Trauma-related surgical care

• Acute surgical consults and procedures

• Holiday coverage includes Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's

Procedures & Skills

Required procedural experience includes:

• Bowel resection

• Emergency General Surgery

• Trauma Surgery

• Management of perforations

• Incision and drainage

• Abscess management

• Wound care

Support & Technology

• EMR: Meditech

• Hospital-based clinical support

Requirements & Credentialing

• Board Certified in General Surgery required

• Active Kentucky medical license required

• IMLC candidates welcome

• Fellowship required

• ACLS required

• BLS required
