Trauma Surgery Physician Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience practicing trauma surgery or general surgery
• Physician credentials with board certification or eligibility in surgery or a related specialty
• Completion of appropriate trauma surgery or general surgery fellowship training; two years of fellowship training is preferred
• Current ATLS certification
• Demonstrated clinical experience treating both adult and pediatric trauma patients
• Ability to obtain and maintain the required Arkansas medical license and hospital privileges
• Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and commitment to high-quality patient care

Trauma Surgeon Responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage adult and pediatric trauma patients in a Level III trauma setting
• Provide general surgical consultation and operative care for emergent and elective cases
• Perform laparoscopic procedures, including appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernioplasty, and Nissen fundoplication
• Provide trauma and surgical care involving chest wall and pleural conditions
• Perform chest tube insertion, central line insertion, and pulmonary artery catheter placement
• Apply expertise in laser procedures as clinically appropriate
• Collaborate with emergency medicine, critical care, anesthesia, nursing, and other members of the multidisciplinary care team
• Document assessments, procedures, treatment plans, and follow-up care accurately and promptly
