Clinical Role RecruitWell is seeking a Board Certified General Surgeon for locums call coverage in Wilson, North Carolina. This hospital-based assignment is focused on unassigned General Surgery patients, admissions, and urgent surgical evaluation. Providers with GI capabilities are highly preferred.
Assignment Details
Coverage: November 26-30, 2026
Anticipated assignment need through late December 2026
24-hour call coverage
Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 AM
Locum call coverage is for unassigned patients
Multiple providers accepted

Stroke Certified hospital
Approximately 4 phone consultations
Approximately 4 patients seen while on call
Approximately 4 admissions
Drive-in candidates highly preferred
Meditech EMR
Clinical Details & Responsibilities
Provide General Surgery call coverage
Evaluate and manage unassigned surgical patients
Respond to Emergency Department and inpatient surgical consultations
Complete admissions as required
Provide telephone consultations as needed
Perform surgical procedures as clinically appropriate
Coordinate care with hospital teams and clinical support staff
Complete timely clinical documentation
Call Response Requirements
Telephone response required within 15 minutes
In-person response required within 45 minutes
Procedures & Skills
General Surgery
GI capabilities highly preferred
Must be comfortable with acute surgical evaluation and admissions
Support & Technology
Stroke Certified hospital
EMR: Meditech
Multiple locums providers may be utilized for coverage
Requirements
Board Certified in General Surgery required
Active North Carolina medical license required
North Carolina license only
Fellowship required
GI capabilities highly preferred
Drive-in candidates highly preferred
Must meet required call response times
