Surgery - Thoracic Physician

Locums Cardiovascular Surgery coverage in Texas with relatively light annual surgical volume and APP support for post op rounds. Ongoing need for 24 hour call coverage with the ability to pick up 5 to 12 shifts per month.

Practice Setting

• Mix of inpatient and outpatient cardiovascular and thoracic surgery
• Adult only patient population
• General adult cardiac and thoracic case mix, including CABG and standard lung biopsies
• When covering a week long block, clinic is typically a half day with 3 to 4 pre op or post op patients

Schedule

• 24 hour call coverage shifts
• Call is stay at home or hotel, 30 minute response time required
• Ongoing coverage need beginning around early November 2026
• Typical monthly need is 5 to 12 shifts

Cases and Procedures

• General adult cardiac and thoracic surgery, including CABG and standard lung biopsies
• Facility does not support ECMO, cases requiring ECMO are transferred out

Requirements

• Must be an MD or DO
• Texas medical license required, will not wait for license
• Board Certified in Cardiovascular or Thoracic Surgery, or Board Eligible within 5 years
• DEA required
