Surgery - Thoracic Physician

Locums Cardiac Surgery Paducah, KY (KY License Preferred or Willing to Obtain) Why This Role A board-certified cardiac surgeon is needed for holiday call coverage. Candidates with availability for the first block will receive priority. The assignment requires a strong adult cardiac surgery background; thoracic experience is preferred but not mandatory.Required Availability Candidates must cover at least one complete block:

Assignment Details
• Setting: Hospital-based
• Schedule: 24-hour coverage, 7 a.m. Äì7 a.m.
• Ongoing need: Approximately 4 Äì7 shifts per month
• Patient population: Adult and geriatric
• Average cardiac surgical volume: 1 Äì2 cases per day
• Operating rooms: One dedicated heart OR and one hybrid OR
• Annual emergency department volume: Approximately 30,000
• EMR: Epic
• Weekend and holiday coverage required
Required Clinical Scope
• Adult cardiac surgery
• CABG using internal mammary and radial arteries
• Redo CABG cases
• Heart-valve repair and replacement
• ICU management of high-risk postoperative patients
• Impella insertion, removal and bailout
• Medical management of critically ill cardiac patients
• Structural-heart procedural support in the hybrid OR or cath lab
Preferred Thoracic Experience
• Tube thoracostomy
• Tracheostomy
• Bronchoscopy
• VATS decortication and lung biopsy
• Pericardial window
Support
• First assistant experienced in endoscopic saphenous-vein harvesting
• Dedicated cardiac anesthesia team
• Collaborative ICU staff
Requirements
• Board-certified in Cardiac or Cardiothoracic Surgery
• Active BLS certification
• Active Kentucky medical license preferred
• Candidates willing to obtain a Kentucky license may be considered
• Current Impella support experience required
• Structural-heart support experience required
• Clean background and malpractice history
• Must provide exact availability with presentation
• Must disclose any previous work within the affiliated health system, including facility, last date worked and agency
