System Design Engineer

In this role you will help mature RF and LO concepts by driving early lifecycle investigations and system definitions within MBDA’s Systems team. You will bridge technology specialists, system designers and programme management to translate ideas into tangible concepts and demonstrations. You’ll work across the V-model to plan verification and trials, collaborating with internal and external suppliers to showcase breakthrough capabilities. This is a hands-on, fast-paced role that combines technical analysis with cross-domain coordination for mission-focused defence tech.

• Lead early lifecycle investigations and answer what-if questions for future concepts
• Support technology specialists and system definition through trade studies and stakeholder interaction
• Develop system designs for future concepts, maturing system, sub-system and equipment-level requirements
• Plan and support verification activities across the V-model, including trials and documentation
• Collaborate with MBDA and external partners to deliver concept definitions and technology demonstrations

• Systems Engineering experience with architecture definition, requirement development and management
• Experience with trade studies and identifying options to resolve conflicts in requirements/designs
• Ability to work independently on technically complex problems or in small teams
• Familiarity with Systems Engineering tools such as DOORS, DOORS Next, Rhapsody
• Proven ability to interact with stakeholders and manage multi-domain coordination
