Overview

In this role, you lead the development and integration of conventional island systems (water, wastewater, chemicals, auxiliary steam, gases, HVAC, fire protection, utilities) within a multidisciplinary engineering setting. You ensure delivery meets quality, safety, and regulatory standards while collaborating with internal teams and external partners. You will drive system maturation from concept to detailed design and mentor junior engineers. This position offers the chance to influence complex plant interfaces and improve engineering efficiency.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver system designs, calculations, specifications, and technical documentation for assigned systems
  • Integrate system designs with multidisciplinary inputs and project requirements
  • Review and integrate outputs from engineering partners and suppliers
  • Identify and manage technical risks, issues, assumptions, and opportunities
  • Coordinate system interfaces across disciplines for seamless integration
  • Support regulatory, environmental, safety, and assurance activities
  • Apply configuration management and design change processes through the lifecycle
  • Deliver work packages to agreed quality, cost, and schedule
  • Collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, contractors, and partners
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, standardisation, and engineering efficiency
  • Provide technical maturation from concept to detailed design
  • Mentor and support junior engineers
Key requirements
  • System Design — development and integration of process, utility, water, gas, HVAC, and auxiliary systems
  • Technical Documentation — production and review of calculations, specifications, analyses, and reports
  • Multidisciplinary Coordination — working across mechanical, electrical, civil, structural, safety, and process disciplines
  • Engineering Partner Management — reviewing and assuring externally delivered engineering outputs
  • System Interfaces — managing interactions between multiple systems and disciplines
  • Safety & Regulatory Compliance — integrating safety, environmental, licensing, and regulatory requirements
  • Configuration Management — applying change control and maintaining design integrity
  • Risk Management — identifying and managing technical risks, issues, and assumptions
  • Process & Utility Knowledge — understanding of water systems, chemicals, gases, auxiliary steam, HVAC, fire protection, and balance-of-plant systems
  • Stakeholder Engagement — effective communication with suppliers, contractors, and internal teams
  • Leadership — guiding system development, assuring quality, and supporting junior engineers
