Overview

Join Thales UK as a System Integration & Test Engineer within the Under Water Systems team to support submarine and naval sensor projects. You will contribute to the end-to-end lifecycle from design to delivery, delivering robust hardware and software solutions that meet customer needs on time and within budget. Your role spans IVVQ activities, integration with inboard/outboard equipment, and on-site trials and acceptance. This position offers hands-on work in a high-stakes maritime domain with opportunities to influence platform-level testing and customer acceptance.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver hardware and software solutions that meet customer requirements on time and within budget
  • Develop test and trials strategies, write test procedures, document results
  • Support integration between inboard/outboard and third-party equipment
  • Assist IVVQ activities to bring MMS solutions into service
  • Support customer acceptance activities prior to delivery
  • Contribute to platform activities including STW, NWHT, SAT, and defect maintenance on ships/submarines
Key requirements
  • System Engineering lifecycle understanding
  • IVVQ knowledge and its application
  • Requirements management linking to test activities
  • Experience in creating test plans and procedures
  • Experience in documenting sell-off evidence
  • Hardware engineering for analogue/digital electronics
  • Integration of COTS and bespoke equipment with multiple interfaces
  • Knowledge of hardware, firmware (FPGA) and software integration
  • Experience with test equipment (Fluke, optical meters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers)
  • Platform experience on naval ships/submarines and related trials
  • Experience with MS Office for technical documentation
  • Fault reporting tools (JIRA) and requirements capture tools (DOORS)
  • UK driving license
  • Security clearance eligibility (SC)
