Thyssen Mining provides a unique opportunity to work for a dynamic and growing contracting company that specializes in building underground mines for our clients. We specialize in executing mining projects in North America and internationally and are part of a global contracting group. With offices in Saskatchewan, Ontario, and Nevada, Thyssen Mining is a leader in the underground mine engineering and construction industry with expertise in all aspects of underground mining including shaft sinking, mine development, mine production, and underground construction. Our work also extends into the underground civil tunnelling construction sector.
We are currently seeking an energetic and detail-oriented individual to join our small, flexible team of IT professionals in the position of Systems Administrator, working out of our office in Regina, SK.
The ideal candidate will be energetic and maintain a positive attitude as they work alongside other IT personnel in providing timely resolutions to issues involving IT operations, mobile devices, networks, and other IT systems. Alongside these day-to-day support operations, we want someone who has a strong technical background, can learn on their feet, and can fluidly pivot from project to project.
Key Responsibilities

• Support and maintain legacy IT infrastructure
• Lead implementation of new IT solutions
• Work with hardware, server infrastructure, and business software systems
• Provide day-to-day IT support (mobile devices, networks, systems)
• Administer, design, replace, and upgrade IT systems
• Mix of on-prem and cloud technologies (Microsoft, Active Directory, Office 365, Virtualization)
  

Required Skills & Attributes

• Strong technical background and ability to learn quickly
• Customer service focus
• Excellent English communication (verbal and written)
• Documentation of processes and procedures
• Adaptability to changing work environments
• Time management and ability to work independently
• Willingness to provide occasional after-hours support
  

Travel Requirements

• Valid driver’s license and passport
• Willing and able to travel to remote mine sites in Canada and the USA
• Must comply with international travel regulations
  

Qualifications

• Mandatory: 5+ years of IT experience
• Mandatory: Post-secondary education (degree, diploma, or IT certifications)
