Overview

As System Architect you will define and oversee the architecture of a major spacecraft mission, ensuring integration across electrical, mechanical, RF, software, thermal, and payload domains. You’ll lead system-level concepts, maintain the technical baseline, and drive trade studies and risk strategies to ensure mission readiness. The role sits at the core of cross‑functional teams, shaping the overall system design and verification strategy. This is a mission‑critical opportunity to influence spacecraft architecture in a leading space programs environment.

Responsibilities
  • Define the overall spacecraft architecture aligned with mission objectives and performance requirements
  • Lead system-level concepts, functional breakdowns, subsystem interactions, and high-level design flows
  • Own and maintain the technical baseline across multiple domains (electrical, mechanical, RF, software, thermal, payload)
  • Produce system specifications, documentation, and interface definitions
  • Perform trade-off analyses across performance, reliability, mass, power, and cost
  • Identify risks, define mitigation strategies, and inform architectural decisions for mission reliability
  • Oversee system-level verification and validation for testability and compliance
  • Collaborate with AIT, mission operations, and engineering teams to ensure architectural consistency
  • Provide senior technical leadership, mentoring engineers, and shaping long-term architectural strategy
Key requirements
  • Mandatory space industry experience with spacecraft architecture or mission-critical space hardware
  • Proven ability to define architectures for complex aerospace/space platforms
  • Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, RF, software, thermal, and payload domains
  • Experience producing system-level documentation, specifications, and architectural models
  • Strong analytical skills for trade studies, risk analyses, and decision-making
  • Ability to coordinate across multidisciplinary teams and ensure coherence
  • Experience supporting system-level verification, validation, and design reviews
