Overview

As a Systems Engineer in our Gloucester team, you will develop and validate complex mechanical and hydraulic aircraft systems for landing gear, supporting research, development, and in-service activities. You will build and assess models, perform dynamic analyses, and ensure safety and certification align with programme goals. You will collaborate across disciplines to optimise designs and drive test activities, contributing to high‑quality aerospace systems. This role offers hands-on impact within a regulated, technically challenging environment and exposure to major aerospace projects.

Responsibilities
  • Develop computational models and run system simulations
  • Perform static and dynamic load calculations
  • Conduct performance, frequency response, modal and stability analyses
  • Investigate shimmy behaviour and failure scenarios
  • Correlate and validate models against test data
  • Define and validate system performance requirements
  • Create simulation test cases and pass/fail criteria
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimise designs
  • Support test activities and interpret results
  • Ensure delivery against schedules, quality standards and cost targets
Key requirements
  • Degree in Engineering
  • Experience in systems modelling, analysis and simulation
  • Knowledge of landing gear extension and retraction systems
  • Experience analysing shock absorber performance
  • Understanding of recoil analysis, loads generation and model integration
  • Experience conducting shimmy and stability analysis
  • Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink
  • Proficiency in MSC ADAMS
  • Proficiency in AMESim
  • Strong understanding of mechanical principles and dynamic system behaviour
  • Ability to interpret requirements and translate them into robust solutions
